The Umbrella Refugee Committee is actively promoting education and training courses to enhance refugees’ opportunities wherever they go.
To this end, thanks to the support of the UN Refugee Agency we established a partnership for 2024 with DLA Piper to provide legal training sessions to our committee members.

Under the programme “Know Your Rights (KYR)”, this renowned Global Law Firm with lawyers in over 40 countries agreed to conduct four legal training sessions aimed at improving the resources available to asylum seekers and refugees. Using a two-hour modules format, the common framework of these sessions is ‘Non-Profit organisations management‘, a crucial topic for the effective operation of our independent refugee committees.
Sessions are held at our refugee Community Centre and are open to the public upon registration. They are conducted primarly in English with consecutive translation into French, and, to ensure inclusivity, we also guarantee the presence of volunteer translators for Ukrainian, Arabic and any other language requested by the audience in advance.
