The Syrian Refugee Committee is the voice of the victims of forced displacement from Syria.
We are an independent, inclusive, non political, non religious, and non profitable community based initiative with the aim to be the liaison between the Belgian authorities and the Syrian community residing in Belgium.
Our committee comprises a diverse array of professionals, including engineers, entrepreneurs, students, activists, refugee and migration experts, as well as accountants.
Activities and actions
At the Syrian Refugee Committee we are active facilitators of the Umbrella Refugee Committee’s Mobile Teams, regularly serving as volunteers for street patrols to prevent homelessness.
Driven by our belief in sports as a crucial tool for fostering human bonds, we established football teams where our members play together on a weekly basis.
Additionally, we collaborate closely with the Brussels-Capital Region Government, providing essential services such as translation, disinfection, and medical aid to refugees in reception centers.
Key locations where our support has been extended include the Crossings Stadium, IBIS Hotel, and the Anderlecht Hotel. Furthermore, our committee provided assistance during the closure of the reception facility at Rue des Palais 48, helping refugees relocate to better accommodations.
