At the Umbrella Refugee Committee we are direct managers in implementating integration and reception policies for refugees.

Thanks to the trust we have established with local authorities, the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region entrusted us with managing refugee shelters and a community centre dedicated to integration activities.

RECEPTION:
Refugee shelters

We are currently managing refugee shelters throughout Brussels, where our team not only ensures refugees’ accommodation but also the provision of a range of services.

Sheltered refugees are offered an address for registration, which opens their door to obtain an orange card and access employment eligibility. Our shelters also ensure the mobility of forcibly displaced migrants’ by providing them with a transport card. Moreover, we offer essential assistance including food, personal hygiene, healthcare, and language integration through our conversation tables in French and Flemish.

In collaboration with SINGA, our shelters organise daily activities such as museum visits, football games, or Bazaars to promote community engagement and inclusion.

INTEGRATION:
Community Centre

In 2022, the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region provided the Ukrainian Voices Refugee Committee, one of our nine committees, with the responsibility to run a Community Centre to ensure refugees’ integration.

Currently located at 89 Rue de la Loi (Brussels), the centre features 8 floors and more than 50 spaces for conferences, exhibitions, offices and dining rooms.

Within this facility refugees are offered a wide range of services including social and physical wellness programs, employment guidance, housing assistance, language courses, kids activities, and cultural events.
