On 26 August, we were happy to join the third and last workshop in the series hosted by Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen<\/a> (VwV)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These workshops were organised as part of an ongoing collaboration between VwV and the URC.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During these workshops, we were able to hear from some of VwV\u00b4s great experts, who have invaluable knowledge and experience of working in the Belgian non-profit sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that in mind, let\u2019s take a closer look at each workshop.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fundraising<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The first workshop in the series was on fundraising. It was given to us by Manu Van Roosbroeck<\/strong>, Head of Fundraising & Communications. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshop, we not only learned the theoretical knowledge<\/strong> related to fundraising, but also were able to see the relevant data<\/strong> and hear about Manu\u2019s own experience<\/strong>, which made the view of the topic holistic and much more tangible<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advocacy, policy influencing, and socio-legal support<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Joost Depotter<\/strong>, Head of Policy & Support, and Helene Asselman<\/strong>, Team Lead, Socio-legal Support, presented how VwV approaches advocacy and policy influencing<\/strong>, making a big emphasis on the interplay of it with the support their organisation provides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speakers also talked about VwV\u2019s model for first-line socio-legal support<\/strong>, how they train their volunteers, and what kind of profiles they look for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the workshop, we were able to compare our approaches and exchange ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Development<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Last in the series but no less important, the project development workshop was given by Geert Bossaerts<\/strong>, VwV\u2019s Senior Project Developer. During it, she explained how to support participants in project development<\/strong> as well as covered where to find project calls<\/strong> et who funds civil society<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we were able to discuss areas of our interest<\/strong> and explore the kind of joint projects<\/strong> we might have in the future. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

These workshops emphasised the role of building partnerships, avoiding competition with other organisations, and fostering collaboration. We also discussed the importance of efforts\u2019 coordination and division minimisation amongst organisations and actors as a way to increase initiatives\u2019 impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the sessions were instrumental in acquiring new knowledge and exchanging reflections on each other\u2019s ways of work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of each workshop, we were able to compare our approaches and exchange ideas by having discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
