The Iraqi Refugee Committee falls under the Umbrella Refugee Committee and follows the same goal: to empower refugees in Belgium.
Our aim is to foster integration, solidarity and unity – and these are the values behind our actions to help all refugees.
OUR ACTIONS
Integration
The Iraqi refugee committee organises English courses every Wednesday for all interested refugees. The goal is to foster community at the same time as integration.
Iftar Ramadan in collaboration with the Women Refugee Committee.
Members of the Iraqi Refugee Committee participated in Microstart training sessions. The aim of these sessions was to learn how to open a business.
The Iraqi Refugee Committee participated in a conference held by Dr. Ali Al-Nashmi, writer, researcher and historian, at the Misc Centre in Antwerp.
Community engagement
The Iraqi Refugee Committee was part of a demonstration against violence in Antwerp, organised by the Municipality of Beveren.
Institutional visits
The Iraqi Refugee Committee was invited by the Bloom organisation to visit the Belgian parliament and meet Stephanie D’Hose – President of the Senate of Belgium from 2020 until 2024
