What is the Refugee Committee
The refugee Committee wants to strengthen the refugee voice in Belgium by building a refugee led collective representation at municipal level . This form of organization will help refugee communities establish regular structured consultations with all municipal stakeholders on three priority thematic: Housing, Employment and Education.
Why the Refugee committee
Refugee women and men need to find their own space and voice to confer among themselves to build a common understanding with clear pathways towards integration , inclusion and effective participation in Belgium society.
Refugee Committee Scope of action
We want to design an effective advocacy strategy that generates progress, across refugee nationalities, cultural diversities and gender orientations. We are actively working on gathering data and trends regarding the COVID 19 impacts on refugees lives as well as documenting the current integration realities on three priority themes for refugee communities: Housing, Employment and Education.

Refugee Committee history and current status
Refugee Community consultations in Brussels started in Oct 2019 . In June 2020, Syrians, Afghans and LGBTQ+ refugees in Brussels have started the process of organizing themselves and forming collective structures. The Refugee Committee is in the process of reaching out to Latinos and Iraqis refugees.
